Dear brothers in Islam, first of all, I would like to remind myself and all of us to increase our iman and to thank Allah SWT for every ni’mah especially ni’mah Islam and iman so we can come to this Jumu’ah prayer. Allah SWT says in the Quran surah Ibrahim verse 7 “la insyakartum laazidannakum wa laa inkafartum inna ‘adzaabi lasyadid.” If we are thankful to Allah SWT, He will give us more and more ni’mah but if we deny, we have to remember that Allah’s will give us severe punishments. May peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad saw and his family, his followers. They spread Islam so we can know about Islam.
Today InsyaAllah ta’ala I would like share with you one story of the shahabah. Once upon time when Prophet and shahabah ware seating in the masjid, one man passed through in front of the masjid. Prophet said to shahabah, “He is the man of jannah.” Shahabah were very curious and one of the shahabah followed him to his house and want to stay in his house for 3 days. For 3 days the shahabah saw nothing unusual. That man just pray, fasting, and made another ibadah just like other shahabah. So that shahabah finally told the man what the Prophet had said and asked him what was so special. The man thought for a long time and said, “I don’t know .. But, maybe one thing, before going to sleep every night I forgive everyone and sleep with a clean heart.”
As Allah SWT says in the Quran surah Ali Imran verse 133-134, Allah SWT provides the jannah for the people of taqwa. And one characteristic of these people is ‘afinaa ‘anin naas, forgive people. So we forgive people is not because he deserve to be forgiven but we forgive people because we want to be among of the people of taqwa and we want to enter jannah.
Forgiving people is not easy. We have to compel our heart, we have to train our heart to forgive people. In our life, when people communicate, maybe people don’t have any intention to say bad things or harsh words, but it sometimes really happen. When people say something that hurt our heart, we have to be patient, remember Allah SWT, and forgive their mistakes.
In one hadith narrated by Imam Tirmidzi, Prophet saw said that, “ittaqillaha haitsu ma kunta wa atbi’isy syayiati al hasanati tamhuha wa khaliqin naas bi khuluqin hasanin.” Our Prophet gave us message that we have to fear Allah, we have to taqwa to Allah SWT everywhere we are. So, when the people hurt our hearts, the one thing we should remember is ‘taqwa to Allah SWT.’ If we remember ‘taqwa to Allah SWT’ we will remember the characteristic of the people of taqwa, ‘afinaa ‘anin naas, forgive people.
May Allah SWT give us taufiq and guidance so we can increase our taqwa and easy to forgive people.

In this second khutba I would like deliver the other 2 messages from our Prophet saw, “wa atbi’isy syayiati al hasanati tamhuha wa khaliqin naas bi khuluqin hasanin.” Follow the bad deeds with the good deeds so the good deeds will erase the bad deeds. For example, when we hurt someone, we have to ask forgiveness from him, repent to Allah SWT, and to make a good deed like shadaqah. Those good deeds will erase the bad deeds. And the last message is “wa khaliqin naas bi khuluqin hasanin.” Deal with people with the good manners. Moreover we are brothers in Islam. We have to deal with our brothers with good way. We have to understand each other so we can increase our ukhuwah among us.
